The portrait of Time

Nothing escapes the passing of time.

And photography, whith its magic promising us to take a moment away from the transience of life, is, in the end, pure illusion. As if paying homage to the saying of Heraclitus “Everything changes and nothing remains still”, Edoardo Montaina wants to show how time changes everithing, even the very art we created to take moments away from it.

He did it whith a clear intention, almost ritually: in 1984 he put pictures of his family and most beloved places on a film and then buried it on the shore of a lake in the Roman country.

The passing of seasons left its sign and, just in the Picture of Doryan Gray, today this photografic series comes back to light to give us back the real portrait of time.
